TOPICS:
(Oct. 14): Legal Challenges of the Aging Journey: An Introduction
(Oct. 21): Three Most Important Legal Documents
As this year’s local attorney leading the two-part discussion, I am pleased to include the event information above and hope all interested residents of any surrounding county and of any age, will feel free to join me and DARTS as we address these concerns and questions. My personal contact and website information are listed below.
The first event on October 14 is designed to address the legal issues and challenges of the aging process that, if left unaddressed, can complicate our lives and the lives of our loved ones. The issues that will be discussed briefly include, but are not limited to, Health Care and Caregiving, Housing (including the challenges of “Aging in Place”), Family Issues, Finances, Social Connectivity and staying active. All of these concerns and activities include legal issues that require prior planning, and, in some cases, documentation. This evening’s discussion is to address the reasons for the October 21 discussion on the three most important legal documents everyone should consider. (Health Care Directives, Powers of Attorney, and Wills and/or Trusts) – the things I refer to as “Foundational Estate Planning.”
My clients know the value of thinking through these issues and addressing the need for the above-mentioned foundational documents. I hope others who may not have addressed these concerns yet, or, having thought through some of them, don’t know what steps to take to execute their plans. Join us at these two free educational events sponsored by a passionate non-profit, DARTS, which is devoted to enriching the aging process, and a local attorney who specializes in the concerns of our elders and their families.
